The
first day was not good for the ocean so we decided to hit Cape
Town for the day. Peter and Kiki were already in Cape Town and
went to Cape Point. There they met some interesting hikers followed
by Boulders beach and Table Mountain. They were fortunate enough
to see some Whales whilst at Boulders beach which was a huge bonus.
They
all arrived for two reasons! The Cape Fur Seal and its predator
the Great White Shark! Not only to just see them but to dive with
them! They headed out for a great combo day of Seal diving and
Shark diving. Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worst
and they just managed to dive with the Seals before heading back
to shore. But it was a very memorable experience. You may think
this is crazy but it was actually 100% safe as White Sharks do
not enter the kelp fields as they do not like enclosed spaces.
The
rest of the day was enjoyed exploring the area. Sean and Meghan
explored the local coastline and Kiki, Peter and Paul went to
Hermanus.
The
following day was perfect. The ocean was calm and it was warm
and sunny. We all geared up and went to meet Andre at the Harbour.
We launched and headed straight for the action. After a short
15 minute ride we dropped anchor and Andre started to prepare
the shark bait.
After
30 minutes of waiting Peter became a little bit bored and started
to play with his camera. Unfortunately Peter gave me all of his
photos including the famous double chin self portrait (we have
all done it!)
It
wasn't for long to wait though until the Sharks started work for
the day. They all had a great time out on the boat and with the
sharks. It was a special day out and everyone on board was happy
at having the extra bonus of seeing Andre at work.
