Directions to us

 

You can come here from Cape Town from a number of routes but these are our two favorites.

Sir Lowry's Pass Route or the Gordons Bay Route. Both have their beauties but personally we prefer driving the coastal Gordons Bay road. Sir Lowry's Pass is much quicker but if you have time on your hands and enjoy the coastline then the Gordons Bay road is Unbeatable!

Basically if you are in Cape Town or the Airport just go onto the N2 and head for Somerset West. It is very easy. The N2 starts near the V&A Waterfront.

 

 

Gordons Bay Route

 

 

Follow the N2 from Cape Town past Somerset West & past the Shell Garage on the right (Which has an african village theme next to it)

 

Follow on up the hill until you see the sign for R44 Gordons Bay, Kleinmond (Basically the last road before heading up Sir Lowry's Pass) Then take the R44 road into Gordons bay

& turn Left at the T-Junction at the end.

Then simply follow the road along the coast going through Pringle Bay, Betty's Bay & Kleinmond before passing the stunning Arabella Golf Estate. You then take a Right at the T-Junction onto the R43 which will take you through to Hermanus.

When reaching Hermanus & looking around (if you have time) follow the high street through town. This high street is about 11Km from start to finish but don't worry, the majority of the street consists of housing on both sides so it is easy to follow (WHATCH OUT FOR THE SPEED COPS! STICK TO 60k's). When you finally exit Hermanus you will drive through to Stanford. If you want to explore Stanford then take a right at the Caltex Garage. Gansbaai is basically straight down the R43 about 35Km from Stanford.

Here it is clearer:

  • Take the N2 out of Cape Town
  • Right onto the R44 Gordons Bay Road
  • Left at T-Junction
  • Pass through: Pringle Bay, Betty's Bay, Kleinmond & Arabella Golf Estate
  • Take a Right at the T-Junction onto the R43
  • Follow R43 to Gansbaai through Hermanus & Stanford.

 

 

 

Sir Lowry's Pass Route

 

 

Follow the N2 through Somerset West and up the mountain. This mountain road is called Sir Lowry's Pass and provides with stunning views of Cape Town outskirts. When at the top take a right into the viewpoint area AT DAYTIME ONLY! and enjoy stunning views of False Bay & Table Mountain (Devils Peak side).

Turn off onto the R43 to Hermanus after the Houw Hoek Pass at Botrivier (The one way mountain pass). The R43 will take you through Hermanus & Stanford before finally reaching Gansbaai.

Here it is clearer:

  • Take the N2 Out of Cape Town and up Sir Lowry's Pass
  • Stop to Enjoy the views at the top on the right (Day Time Only!)
  • Turn off onto the R43 after the Houw Hoek Pass at Botrivier to Hermanus.
  • The R43 will take you through Hermanus & Stanford before finally reaching Gansbaai

 

Directions to the Roundhouse

On approach to Gansbaai you will see a right turn to De Kelders, do not take this one! Take the next turn off into De Kelders. As you turn off just look diagonally right and you will see us clearly. Just look for the large round house with a Thatch roof underneath South African and Welsh flags. You will see a large B&B sign painted on the building. Basically if you cannot then take a U-Turn, avoid the traffic cops and safely head for the first opticians you can find. Then drive back with your new goggles.

If you do not want to do this then take a right at the stop street, then first left, you will pass the De Kelders bakery then take your first right into 'Ingang Street'. (Entrance Street in English) If you haven't seen the guesthouse yet then drive up the road & just before the top of the hill there we stand on the right.

Here it is clearer:

  • 2nd right turn into Gansbaai named De Kelders/Stanford's Bay.
  • Right at Stop Street
  • Next Left
  • Right after passing Bakery (Ingang Street)
  • We are on the right hand side of the hill.
